As Hire Image reported previously, effective Monday, December 20th, the federal government and its contractors are prohibited from asking about the criminal history of a job applicant prior to a conditional offer of employment as a part of The Fair Chance Act. Under the new law, exceptions include:
- positions related to law enforcement and national security duties,
- jobs requiring access to classified information, and
- roles required by law to reveal criminal history information before the conditional offer stage.
