Applicants to Boston University’s graduate programs no longer have to disclose criminal history on their applications. After looking into the statistics and relying on a recent study showing that the rejection rate for applications with criminal convictions was 2.5 times the rate without convictions, the associate provost for graduate affairs began the effort to remove the box from Boston University’s graduate program application.
We all know the momentum Ban the Box has had over the past couple of years among states and localities. Now, that momentum is moving into higher education.
