The British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives recently issued a public advisory after learning of an individual who had been falsely representing herself as a registered nurse in the province. The professional regulator of nurses is now warning others that the person in question is neither registered under their jurisdiction nor eligible to practice as a nurse. The advisory also notes the numerous aliases the person had used in attempting to secure employment among area hospitals.
Going forward, they strongly advise healthcare employers to verify the registration status of any applicants seeking roles as registered nurses.
This incident comes not long after the previously reported Florida-based scam that sold transcripts and materials to approximately 7,600 individuals.
