Florida Inmate Released Based on COVID-19 Concerns Now Accused of Murder

Hire Image recently posted about thousands of inmates being released early from prison due to concerns of the spread of COVID-19. To many, these decisions appear to place concern for the inmates over the concern for public safety. And, now, one of those inmates in Florida is accused of committing murder just one day after being released. He is now facing second degree murder charges, resisting arrest with violence, felon in possession of a firearm, and possession of heroine and other drug paraphernalia.

Unfortunately, these are the real consequences associated with taking the action some of the states have taken with early prison releases.

Employers should act in an abundance of caution when hiring or reinstating individuals once we arrive on the other side of this crisis.
