An impostor nurse who lied about her education and work experience to land a series of high-paying health care jobs has been sentenced to 65 months in prison, the Justice Department said Wednesday.
The defendant, identified as Sonja Emery, defrauded employers of more than $2.2 million and evaded more than $697,000 in taxes, Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General Richard E. Zuckerman of the Justice Department’s Tax Division and U.S. Attorney Matthew J. Schneider for the Eastern District of Michigan announced.
Emery’s actions took place from 2011 to 2018, the Justice Department said.
