NYU employed a sex offender for years. After being arrested in 2015 for child pornography in Westchester County, New York, the adjunct professor was designated a Level 2 (medium risk of committing another offense) sex offender, according to the New York Sex Offender Registry.
New York University has now claimed that it was unaware that he was a sex offender because his hiring predated his being placed on the registry and that his current job involved teaching a graduate-level course and not children.
“He has been suspended and will not be continuing his teaching duties while the matter is reviewed,” an NYU spokesperson noted.
