As Hire Image previously reported, there had been a massive federal takedown of a fraudulent nursing diploma scheme awarding at least 7,600 fake diplomas to students paying an estimated $114 million. Now, the former owner of the South Florida nursing school at the heart of the federal investigation will have to serve one year and nine months in prison and repay approximately $3.5 million. To date, she has paid back about $2.6 million after pleading guilty last year to a conspiracy to commit healthcare fraud and wire fraud.
