Lashawn McNeil is accused of opening fire on two NYPD officers last Friday night after ambushing them as they responded to a 911 call. Officer Jason Rivera, 22, died from the wounds, while officer Wilbert Mora, 27, was critically injured. At the time, McNeil was on probation for a 2003 drug conviction in New York, and had several arrests outside the state, including unlawfully carrying a gun in South Carolina (case dismissed) and the assault of a Pennsylvania police officer.
