Currently, Connecticut employers with one or more employees are prohibited from inquiring about an applicant’s Criminal History on an initial employment application.
- Credit History Bans
Currently, Connecticut employers are prohibited from requiring an employee (or prospective employee) to consent to a request for a Credit Report that contains information about the employee’s (or prospective employee’s) credit score, credit account balances, payment history, savings or checking account balances or savings or checking account numbers as a condition of employment.
- Medical or Recreational Marijuana Laws
Currently, Connecticut allows the use and possession of marijuana by individuals for medical purposes by qualifying patients who have a recommendation from a doctor to use Medical Marijuana. Adults 21 and older in Connecticut may use and possess Recreational Marijuana up to 1½ ounces (and up to 5 ounces in a locked container in their home or in their car’s glove box or trunk). The new legislation will also expunge past convictions for marijuana possession.
- Salary History Bans
Currently, Connecticut employers are prohibited from asking (directly or through a third party) about a prospective employee’s wage and Salary History unless the prospective employee volunteers the information. Employers are not prohibited from inquiring about other elements of a prospective employee’s compensation structure, as long as such employer does not inquire about the value of the elements of such compensation structure.
